2019 was a great year for the music industry, especially for one particular pop star who shot to fame within months after a song she recorded when she was 13 went viral on Soundcloud.
By this time, you’ve probably figured out that we’re talking about none other than the Bad Guy singer Billie Eilish, who is the fastest rising pop star of the decade at the age of only 18. Besides her gender-defying hits, there’s a lot to the star that hasn’t yet met the eye. Here are 5 things about her that you probably didn’t know before.
A-Lister Friends
Billie Eilish isn’t your average teenager. The pop star has some pretty big names in her contact list, including Drake, whom she admittedly texts often. The singer even praised him in a Vanity Fair interview, saying that he was the nicest guy she has met in the industry so far. Some of her other high-profile friends include Ariana Grande, Avril Lavigne, Kid Cudi, and Justin Bieber.
On Her Favorites
Billie’s hair might be neon green but her favorite color is black and there’s a very interesting reason behind it. The singer says that going through the airport is only possible when she’s in all-black, making it hard for fans to recognize her.
When it comes to her favorite films, the singer considers 2013's Fruitvale Station as her top pick. The film is based on a real-life incident from 2009 when a black teenager from Oakland was assaulted and killed by a police officer.
A Belieber
Believe it or not, Billie was a huge fan of Justin Bieber back in the day and even knows all of his old songs by heart. As luck would have it, the two pop artists are now good friends in real life and have even collaborated on a song together.
The Office Fan
We can all relate to Billie Eilish on many levels, including her love for NBC hit comedy, The Office. She even lent her voice to one of the episodes from season 7 called, ‘My Strange Addiction’.
Accidental Fame
Billie Eilish’s career shot to success thanks to one song that was an accidental hit. The singer wrote Ocean Eyes with her brother in 2015 and at the time of recording, she was only 13. Eilish admitted that the song was meant to be for a dance routine in her school, but it was soon uploaded to SoundCloud where it went viral.
