Trainers spent years mastering the art of fitness, which means their suggestions on how you can reach your goal has massive weight (no pun intended). In terms of food, they steer clear of the following and they have good reasons in doing so:
Refined Sugar
Almost every expert knows that refined sugar is bad for your health, all the more if you are trying to shed some pounds. Examples of this are ice cream, cake, biscuits, chocolate, and candies – if you noticed, these are all irresistibly delicious and which most of us regularly munch on, oftentimes called comfort foods.
Craving for something sweet isn’t new because we use sugar to power through a hectic day. However, refined sugar only messes up your fat-storage hormone, plus, there are better options like Greek yogurt, berries, and raw cacao that will still satisfy your sweet tooth.
Soft Drinks and Energy Drinks
Soft drinks are harmless – NOT! They don’t pack any nutrients and contrary to popular opinion, they don’t even quench your thirst!
Anything that’s flavored, bubbly, and fizzy, as well as those marketed as ‘diet’, is not good for anybody. Energy and sports drinks are also not ideal because they are filled with sugar and chemicals that are going to add to your weight.
Water remains to be the undefeated beverage whether you are parched or bored because it packs 0 calories. You can also have green/herbal teas or black coffee when you want other flavors.
Deep-Fried Food
Anything that’s fried will wreak havoc on your diet. Even healthy foods that are cooked in oil become filled with trans fat.
Your body will find it hard to process trans fat, which means you will likely store this in places you don’t want them to be. Instead of deep-frying food, you can bake them and get the same crunch – sweet potato chips are to die for!
Booze
At the end of stressful days, we need a glass of wine to relax … or so we thought. Drinking could easily become a habit if you’re not mindful of what you’re doing.
If you’re eyeing to drain energy even more and add a few pounds, then boozing is the way to go, trainers said. Alcohol will require a lot of work from your organs and because your body burns it first than any other source you have; the food you eat will not be used immediately.
So next time you have had a long day, chug water or tea instead of alcohol. Once you’re calm, you will no longer need a glass of wine or a bottle of beer.
